My Etsy Studio Shop is slowly getting stocked as I work my way through my Art inventory

and more people are starting to take notice and asking me about commissioning pieces.

So all in all I can’t really complain.

Plus I’m back to working on my 4’x4′ Garden on Knowledge painting.

The background is set and the base of the left side of the tree is in so now things will really start to get interesting.

Remember if you want to commission something message me, I’m your girl!

Public Art Submission

Well my submission is sent in now to sit and wait, and pace, and hope and dream….lol

What in the world am I talking about?

Well you see, the city I live in Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta is looking for ART submissions for the new city hall

http://www.fortsask.ca/ftsk_Business/Initiatives.aspx?id=10878

The particularly exciting part is this line right here: “Submission will be accepted under two themes: a modern contemporary piece or our river and river valley.”

Modern Contemporary is right up my alley!

My proposal was for a nice big 7′ x 4′ foot pure Abstract painting with lots of nice texture and bright vibrant colors!

Best yet it would be hung just inside the Front Entrance to City Hall so lots of traffic.

I’m sure it would look amazing hanging there and would most assuredly be a conversation piece.

But now I have to wait!

Today was the last day for submissions.

Then they are going over the submissions on Tuesday June 4th and the selected party(ies) are supposed to be contacted June 7th.

Maybe if I hold my breath and Pray REALLY Hard???

Oh well if life has taught me anything it’s that you can’t bribe God lol so what will be is what will be meant to be.

Patience & Acceptance

Cheers,

Amanda

Oh ya almost forgot!

My Etsy shop is being set up so go check it out

Home Sweet Home-Studio

Well the renovations have finally been completed in the basement and I am now free to set up my home studio.

Though it isn’t as fancy as some Artist’s may have it is mine and that’s Awesome!

It is far from complete as I still have a few tweaks I would like to make but for now this is how things are progressing.

The other half of the space will be shared by my husband for all his hobbyist en-devours and used as our Multi-Media room including our sizable home library.

All in all it should be a fairly stimulating work/play space.

I’ll update more as thing progress

Cheers!

Amanda

Abstract Baby

Alright Ladies & Gents be prepared to get messy with this one:
Flour Paint!!!
So much fun and best of all Non-toxic which is great for Babies who like to taste test their world.

First the recipe
…really easy
Mix flour with water and add food colouring

image

How much you ask? Well that’s the beauty, you can make it as thick or thin as bright or pale as you want.
I opted for a smooth consistency and just used a plate for Zoë to dip her hands into.

Next the setup
I used a contained environment for the test drive aka I strapped her into her high chair, pulled on the water-resistant bib and put a drop sheet down.

image

Then I used a board canvas because it would be sturdy and wouldn’t turn to slop like paper.
I picked a size that would fit in her tray (being a painter I rarely lack canvas to choose from but if you’re not like me just go down to your local dollar store and pick one up there) anyhoo then I duct taped it down to the tray to prevent kitten from pitching it across the room.
Then I offered the pallet to my blossoming little artist.

image

Eventually I just let her play with it.

image

As you can tell by her mouth heh she had to become one with the canvas.

Also the flash makes her blink.

If it had of been the “non-toxic” finger/poster paints you buy in the store I might have been a bit leery.

image

If you’re wanting even healthier dyes you can always use food puree juices to mix with the flour water mixture like raspberries, beets, carrot etc but I was going for quick this time. Plus the unappealing flavor of bland flour might help teach her that not everything is mouth worthy.
image

As you can tell she’s still teething.

So once she was done painting and I washed her off I took her one of a kind work of art and popped it in the oven on a cookie sheet at 180°- 200°c until it dried out. Spray on a few layers of clear a protective coat and it’s ready to display.

I wonder what the Artist was thinking when she created this heh 🙂

Now if only this would pay her tuition lol

I suspect we’ll be doing this project again someday, because both baby & mommy had fun.

If you decide to give this one a whirl let me know how it goes.
Cheers,
Amanda
