My NOA Cover Competition entry

I’m excited to be participating in the Night of Artists this year and part of the perks of joining in this fabulous event is their NOA magazine cover competition.

This year there are 49 wonderful artists participating in the competition.

I decided to submit “New Song” as my entry this year as I thought it embodied the NOA festival being both an instrument and an art piece. The competition is popularity based and the top 5 most liked artists will move on to the finals for a chance to grace the cover.

The votes are open to the public so if you’d be so kind to cast your vote for me and any others that catch your eye just click on the guitar image below and follow the link to the official page, press like on my guitar and then voila done. Voting ends on January 31st at 9pm Alberta time.

Have a fabulous night!

Snowy Good Friday…a reflection

People ask me all the time where my inspiration comes from and it can be the simplest thing…today on this Good Friday it was the snow.

I was reminded that Jesus died for my sins on a cross in a most cruel manner spilling his blood, giving his life for me. Let me tell you most sincerely that “I” didn’t deserve it and honestly there’s been times in my life that I didn’t want it. I didn’t want the son of God’s blood on my hands. I didn’t want to be the source of his suffering. But most of all I didn’t want to let HIM down again by screwing up.

But here’s the thing. Jesus didn’t stay dead. It wasn’t in vain. It wasn’t death and that’s it. He conquered death, He washed sin away so that I could know Him, have a relationship with Him, walk my life with Him. You can’t do that with a dead man only one that’s truly Alive. God knows that I’m not perfect, He knows that the whole “Free Will” thing will still get me into trouble. But my mistakes aren’t the end. He gave up His life for me out of love not to abandon me when I screw up next, but to help show me a better way. This overwhelming Love and True Forgiveness is what makes me so Thankful that He remembered ME. While he hung there dying in pain on that cross WE were in His thoughts, in His heart. WE were why He died and I thank Him for it.

In a world where true unconditional love seems like a fairy tale it’s hard to accept, but my life is testimony that it exists. He took my brokeness like these stain glass pieces and He put me back together, He washed my sins white as snow and made ME a new creation, a wonderful made piece of Art that Hopefully like light through glass will reflect His Love to others and for that reason I will gladly and humbly accept His Blood on my Hands ❤

Happy Easter

Create & Teach

Let’s ignore the fact that I haven’t posted for awhile….

I’ve been fairly busy on a teaching and creating kick must be that new hand 😉

This is one of my newest classes and artistic endeavors. I’ve been on a 3D Mixed media kick lately. I’ll be offering it again in 2017.

So here let me flood you with some pictures of what I’ve been doing these last months. The advertised piece is complete and the rest are one layer away from being finished.

I seem to be in good standing with my artist muses as of late so pardon me while I get back to it 😉

Rain, Gardening & Industrial Wash

Good Morning Everyone,

Hope everyone had a nice relaxing weekend.
Over in our end of Alberta, we had some great weather and much needed rain though not enough to get rid of the current province wide fire ban sadly.

I spent the weekend visiting with Hubby’s extended family and gardening and delivering a painting to a local customer.

Those of you who follow me on Facebook may know already that every year we plant a sizable garden and this year is no exception. If you’ve never grown your own food I highly recommend it. Not only is it environmentally responsible but you’ll never look at grocery store produce the same once you’ve tasted home grown! And really who needs a lawn?! If you’re an apartment dweller you’d be surprised the things you can grow in containers 🙂

This year our harvest (assuming everything grows well) will consist of: Beef steak Tomatoes, Garlic, Chives, Raspberries, Strawberries, Blueberries, Rhubarb, Carrots, Purple Haze Carrots, Peas, Green Beans, Scarlet runner Beans, Beets, Cucumbers (regular & pickling), Rutabaga, Parsnips, Lettuce, Squash & Spaghetti Squash, Zucchini, Peppers and Japanese Daikon Radish.

I asides from working in the veggie garden I also planted a few Gerber Daisies and Geraniums this weekend to add a bit more color to the yard.

And as I mentioned above Sunday I had the pleasure of delivering my painting “Industrial Wash” to a local collector.

Wild Orange–Gig Town Commission

So, back in 2014, I was approached to do another commissioned guitar that I’m going to share with you today.

Why am I only posting about this now, you may ask?

Simple.

I was asked to keep it on the down low because it was for a company that was, at the time, in the final stages of app development and would be launching a beta version soon and hadn’t made an official public announcement yet.

So, I kept it Hush-Hush.

Until today, that is, as I see they are fully up and running and downloadable.

Now for the details.

Last October, I received a message from Andy Altman the now CEO of Gig Town, in San Diego, California, asking if I could do a guitar for him as he had seen my other pieces online and thought they were “awesome.” *Yay!*

He wanted it for the headquarters of his new biz and asked that it include their logo (another reason I couldn’t share pics ’til now).

Of course I agreed because I love a challenge and I love painting, so it was a win-win. Plus, it gave me one more piece to add to my Colour of Music series.

After working out all the boring details & layout, I was given free rein to start work on the piece.

A few weeks of serious painting later, (from which I’m still finding paint splashes in my studio) I was finished and ready to ship in early November.

Without further ado, here is Wild Orange–Gig Town’s Commission.

Also, here are a few pics that Gig Town has used.

I’d love to hear what you think of the piece! 🙂

Also, go check out Gig Town and Download their App to explore lots of awesome musicians!

Oh, and if you want to commission a custom painted guitar, I’m your Gal!

Here are some of the other pieces I’ve had commissioned and sold.
