Poetry from the Wilderness

Things have been quiet around here with all that’s been going on. I’m still working on healing from a ruptured disc and waiting for probable surgery which Covid has put a big delay on unfortunately drawing things out.

But I’m still creating and if you’ve been following me on facebook you would have noticed some poems emerging lately.

As some of you know I was an English major before I went full time artist and I’ve reached a time in my life that I would like to merge those two passions into one.

As such I am currently in the midst of writing a book of poems that will also showcase some of my mixed media watercolor art which I hope to self publish by the end of the year. Like my artwork these will be faith based in nature drawing on religious symbolism and allusions.

Here’s a peak at some of the one’s I’ve shared already.

I hope you liked these and will look forward to me sharing more as this season of words progresses.

Stay safe & stay healthy!

Cheers,

Amanda

Open Studio this weekend

Well it’s finally here! The weekend I’ve been excited and nervous about haha

This Saturday I invite you into my cozy home studio for some appetizers and a unique art shopping experience.

This is my creative space, a space that few people get to experience and I’m opening it up to share with you.

My art like my studio is bright and eclectic. We aren’t “fancy” people, we live a pretty low key humble life and you won’t find our house to be a show home, pristinely decorated. What you will find however is a cozy lived in space. I don’t say this to down play things I say this so that you’ll have a bit better idea of who we are and where my art evolves from.

I strive to create work that is honest and full of life and color made from moments that sparkle in the everyday using elements that are repurposed giving them a new life. My work is my expression of life and my reflection of the every day transforming moments that change the ordinary into something beautiful and extraordinary.

What I hope you’ll feel when you join us this weekend is something that we should all feel both at Christmas and year long and that is invited, welcomed and accepted.

I look forward to seeing you this Saturday.

Cheers!

Amanda

Art from the unknown 2019

This morning I got the exciting news that I’ve been chosen as one of the artists for Rachel Notley’s 12th annual Art from the Unknown Art art exhibit in Edmonton. I’m very excited for this awesome opportunity ❤

It’s going to be a busy month since I also have a solo exhibit at the Fort Saskatchewan City hall art Nook at the start of October and now this at the end of the month but I love it. More opportunities to share my creative voice with others.

Keep checking back for more upcoming events and exhibits.

Farewell NOA til next year!

Well the weekend for the Night of Artists has come and gone for another year and it was a lovely experience.

Not only did I get a chance to sell and discuss art outside of the Fort, but I got to meet and chat with fellow creatives and start a few friendships.

Here are a few pictures of the weekend! If anything catches your eye shoot me a message to purchase. I offer free delivery of large pieces in the Edmonton and surrounding area.
