No jobs but I still have ART.

So the job hunt isn’t going so hot. I’ve applied to a billion places, office jobs, hotels, photography gigs, etc but I haven’t found what I’m looking for and it hasn’t found me. All I really want to do is get paid for painting. So I’ve decided what the hell, I’ll try posting some stuff on Kijiji and see if anyone wants to buy a painting or two.

But before I do that I thought I’d show you a couple of pieces I’ve been working on and one older piece.

I’ll start from oldest to newest. Alrighty, this one is call “Blue Holiday” and it’s a stylized painting of Billie Holiday singing her heart out. And for those of you who go Billie-who I say for shame go now and research her on Wiki.

Next we have a Biblically inspired abstract. Based on the nature of the piece I’ve simply called it “1 Peter 4 verse 7-8” For those of you who don’t have your Bibles handy here’s the verse for you.

“The end of all things is near. Therefore be clear minded and self-controlled so that you can pray. Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins. ~ 1 Peter 4:7-8.

And finally this bring us to my last piece. The other day I had the urge to paint, not that that’s terribly uncommon but I didn’t have anything in mind other than a certain curve. So I set up my new easel, grabbed my paint and palette knives and put The Gathering on random on my MP3 player.

“Unexplained” was the result. I decided to call it “Unexplained” because the first thing my father-in-law asked was, “What is it?”. (He’s the type of fellow that if it’s not something concrete, ie: landscape, or a portrait he just doesn’t get it. So of course I went off on my “Why does it have to be anything?” rant and he just shrugs and walks off. Case you couldn’t guess, we don’t see eye to eye on the arts.)

Anyway, I love it, it turned out beautifully. It seems to give a sense of movement and again it’s one of those pieces you really have to see in person to fully appreciate it.

Well that’s it for now. I suppose I should go upload some paintings and see if I can’t help pay the rent.

Cheers,

A
