A world of wonder & colour

One (of the many) of the things that excites me the most about having a daughter/child in general is that

I get to introduce her to the world of color & texture.

This is an amazing opportunity to have, especially for someone in love with both of those things.

I just love breaking out something colorful and flashing it around to watch her reaction, it’s wonderful!

When she was really little (few months old) she LOVED Black & White patterns, she would get so excited and squeal in delight.

Now she’s begun to branch out into color.

Lucky for her, she has me for a mom.

If you take a quick glance at my work you’ll quickly figure out that I’m in love with color and my house is no exception.

My rooms are:

Master bedroom: Orange & Red

Nursery: Purple & Pink

Bathroom: Yellow & Red

Living room: Bright Blue

Kitchen: Lime Green

Spare room: Teal

And throughout the house I have the majority of my Acrylic Paintings hung.

So needless to say, my darling daughter is surrounded in a world of color.

Plus, she loves it when we walk around the house and stop, look at and touch all the paintings.

I can’t wait to crack open the paint, crayons, markers, chalk, etc and say “Go to it sweets”, but that will have to wait until things stop going straight to the mouth heh.

In the meantime, we’ve played with ribbon (colorful & gumable), I’ve made her tag blankets, sensory bags, shakers, bought teething jewelry, played with mashed food, did hand & foot dough prints and even filled her highchair tray table with water and food coloring to splash & mix colors with.

So we are well on the road to broadening her senses.

Oh, looks like nap time is over, of on another adventure we go.

Cheers.

Remodeling

Hi,

I know, I know its been ages, but I’m working on the “balance” part right now and let me tell you it’s tricky with a squirmy 7 month old lol.

But it’s coming and hopefully before Christmas I’ll be able to get our shared (hubby & I)’s studio set up in the basement

it would have been done by now but unforeseen circumstances happened.

But,

we’re moving on!

So hang tight as I remodel whenever this cutie naps

and we’ll see what I come up with 🙂

Cheers!

Still Here

Hello,

It’s been awhile.

As you may recall, I was working on a really large piece that got put on hold because I was waiting to go for carpal tunnel surgery. (a lot more has been done on it since last I posted though, I’ll update you later)

Well, the surgery got pushed back because I ended up getting pregnant which was alright because it resulted in my best creation yet, our daughter Zoë.

On top of the family change, we also bought/are in the midst of renovating  a house, so as you can imagine things have been fairly hectic around the Milke residence.

But now as the dust of life begins to settle again I look forward to getting back at my paintings, plus as an added bonus, with the purchase of our own home

I can finally set up my art studio in the basement.

So bear with me as I begin a new creative year, albeit a little late.

Cheers.

So it’s been awhile…

I haven’t been doing a whole lot of painting since last I posted as I’ve been waiting to get in to see a neurologist about my increasingly painful carpal tunnel.

That happens this coming Friday, I’m hoping to avoid the surgery as I’m not much for doctors but we shall see.

That being said however, I haven’t been entirely idle.

As time and my hands permit, I’ve been working on my Genesis painting.

Last time I posted I was still in the midst of deciding whether to purchase or build my own canvas.

I opted for doing it from scratch and ordered some heavy rolled canvas from BC.

I had my father-in-law (the carpenter) assist with the frame building and voila a nice big homemade canvas.

I’ve finished painting the background and have started working on the tree outline.

Though I’ve yet to take a picture of this stage yet.

Perhaps in the next couple of days.

Asides from that I’ve also taken part in the “Amazing Grace Art’s Festival”

Annual arts festival returns to church – Fort Saskatchewan Record – Alberta, CA.

Here are a few pictures from that.
