Home Sweet Home-Studio

Well the renovations have finally been completed in the basement and I am now free to set up my home studio.

Though it isn’t as fancy as some Artist’s may have it is mine and that’s Awesome!

It is far from complete as I still have a few tweaks I would like to make but for now this is how things are progressing.

The other half of the space will be shared by my husband for all his hobbyist en-devours and used as our Multi-Media room including our sizable home library.

All in all it should be a fairly stimulating work/play space.

I’ll update more as thing progress

Cheers!

Still Here

Hello,

It’s been awhile.

As you may recall, I was working on a really large piece that got put on hold because I was waiting to go for carpal tunnel surgery. (a lot more has been done on it since last I posted though, I’ll update you later)

Well, the surgery got pushed back because I ended up getting pregnant which was alright because it resulted in my best creation yet, our daughter Zoë.

On top of the family change, we also bought/are in the midst of renovating  a house, so as you can imagine things have been fairly hectic around the Milke residence.

But now as the dust of life begins to settle again I look forward to getting back at my paintings, plus as an added bonus, with the purchase of our own home

I can finally set up my art studio in the basement.

So bear with me as I begin a new creative year, albeit a little late.

Cheers.

So it’s been awhile…

I haven’t been doing a whole lot of painting since last I posted as I’ve been waiting to get in to see a neurologist about my increasingly painful carpal tunnel.

That happens this coming Friday, I’m hoping to avoid the surgery as I’m not much for doctors but we shall see.

That being said however, I haven’t been entirely idle.

As time and my hands permit, I’ve been working on my Genesis painting.

Last time I posted I was still in the midst of deciding whether to purchase or build my own canvas.

I opted for doing it from scratch and ordered some heavy rolled canvas from BC.

I had my father-in-law (the carpenter) assist with the frame building and voila a nice big homemade canvas.

I’ve finished painting the background and have started working on the tree outline.

Though I’ve yet to take a picture of this stage yet.

Perhaps in the next couple of days.

Asides from that I’ve also taken part in the “Amazing Grace Art’s Festival”

Annual arts festival returns to church – Fort Saskatchewan Record – Alberta, CA.

Here are a few pictures from that.

Genesis Re-visited

Alright, so the company that I was planning on getting my canvas from for the Genesis inspired painting sadly does not ship large canvases.  😦

This is upsetting because all the local stores are twice or more the freaking price.

Bah!

So, this leaves me with two options

1-suck it up and accept the price gouging

or

2-build and stretch my own canvas

Either way, it’s going to take longer than I had anticipated.

I’ll let you know what I decide; in the meantime, here’s a peek at the concept drawing for the piece.

You’ll have to wait until I start painting to see it in color.

Cheers,

Amanda
