Studio Tour June 15 & 16

One of my favorite things to do as an artist is to invite people into my studio space and as luck would have it, Fort Saskatchewan is hosting their very first Artists Studio Tour coming up in June.

This is such an exciting opportunity to tour the local creative talent that Fort Saskatchewan has to offer. As the President for the Fort Saskatchewan Art Society I have spent several years on my soapbox promoting and shouting to passerby’s of the wonderful creativity that our community has to offer so I am very excited for this unique chance for the community to engage in the ARTS!

So without further delay here’s all the details you need to know to participate in this awesome weekend of creative splendor.

I’m a firm believer that art is best experienced in company. I have had so many wonderful conversations and met so many amazing people over the years who have taken a moment to just stop by and chat and get to know the whys and hows of my creative process and some have become students and life long friends.

This weekend gives you the opportunity to slow down, get out from behind a computer and engage in person with the artist. My studio will be open June 15th & 16th from 11am to 4pm for drop in visits. I know life can be busy so if these times don’t work for you I also offer private studio appointments which can be arranged simply by sending me a message via email at amandamilkeartist@gmail.com

Below you will find the map of all the participating artists. I encourage you not to miss out on the opportunity to support and engage with the Arts and Artists of Fort Saskatchewan.

As a Bonus I am offering some in studio specials and a promo on art classes that can only be taken advantage of in person. If you have any questions feel free to reach out.

To give you an idea of what I will have available in studio to purchase I have a variety of mixed media paintings and art objects, needle felted art and gifts, artisan jewelry, watercolor paintings and posters, artists greeting cards, stained glass gifts as well as enrollment in art classes and private lessons.

I can’t wait to see you!

On a different Note…

I’m taking a slight break from Canvas Paintings & Jewelry to start work on a new entry into my Color of Music series.

I’ve had it in the back of my head that I’d love to do a gallery exhibit of a bunch of my painted instruments but so far every one I’ve done has sold not that I’m complaining ;), but it does makes it a tad difficult to put on an exhibit without any pieces in my possession lol.

So today I dug through my stash of goodies that I have squirreled away in my studio and picked out another guitar to start working on tonight. I had a few electrics, another child’s acoustic and this big acoustic that I thought would be a nice change since my last piece was an electric and the one before a child acoustic.

As you can tell, my dog likes to sleep in my studio πŸ™‚ and couldn’t be bothered to move heh.

I have a general idea of what I want to do with this piece but I won’t tell at the moment until I start and sort things out πŸ™‚ but stay tuned and I’ll post as I work on it over the next few days.

Washed Away

Good Day Everyone,

Just wanted to share with you my newest painting.

I picked up this Gallery style canvas of a flower at a yard sale last summer (that somebody had bought at one of those home decor places) with the intent of recycling it into a painting that wasn’t mass produced.

Like most things I stash away in my studio with grand ideas of Artistic Expression it sat there for over a year.

But the other night, I wanted a break from my “Tree of Knowledge” painting since I’ve been working on it pretty steadily so I grabbed my Liquitex Acrylic paint markers and just started painting.

When I began,Β all I knew was that I wanted to use Teals & Blues and next thing I knew I was painting an Abstract expression of Baptism and from there it turned into a very meditative piece.

It’s rather fitting actually, washing away of the old mass produced into something new and unique.

I plan on adding gold elements to it at some point but here is how it’s sitting at the moment.

Cheers and Have a Spirit lead Day!

Amanda
