Creativity is switched ON

Ever have those nights where you’re laying in bed and you have something come to mind and you KNOW that if you don’t get up that instant and write it down it’ll be gone in the morning.

That happens to me ALL the time. I don’t know how many nights I have scribbled on a piece of paper in the dark hopping by morning I’ll understand what the heck it was I wrote down.

Well last night I didn’t have my idea book by the bed SO after Blinding myself with my cell phone I typed my thoughts out on my notepad.

What were they? It had to do with my Genesis Tree of Knowledge painting and I’d tell you my ideas for the piece but as they say “Spoilers Darling”.

Needless to say I went back to working on it tonight and though I didn’t work on the really exciting bits I did block in my next layer.

Transforming the painting from this:

It may not seem like much but Trust me It’s all Clear now!

Prior to my epiphany last night I worked on a few earrings for my new jewelry line I’ll be starting.

My love for color extends beyond my artwork.

Though oddly enough I still love my jeans and a black T lol

Anyway enough chattering for tonight.

Home Sweet Home-Studio

Well the renovations have finally been completed in the basement and I am now free to set up my home studio.

Though it isn’t as fancy as some Artist’s may have it is mine and that’s Awesome!

It is far from complete as I still have a few tweaks I would like to make but for now this is how things are progressing.

The other half of the space will be shared by my husband for all his hobbyist en-devours and used as our Multi-Media room including our sizable home library.

All in all it should be a fairly stimulating work/play space.

I’ll update more as thing progress

Cheers!

Fashionable Project

Good Day,

Just thought I’d update so you wouldn’t think I fell off the planet, again.

As you can see I’ve been branching out a bit lately what with my new poetry site: poetryintransit@wordpress.com

and with my latest creations.

I was trying to think of ways to put out my artwork in a cheaper and more portable way and what I’ve come up with are bags and purses.

Great for almost anything.

I only have 2 styles completed so far (messenger style and tote bag) but more are definitely on the way.

Messenger Style Bag $35 CAD
Messenger Style Bag $35 CAD

Each bag is hand painted with stitching embellishments and assembled by me.

Tote Style Bag with Hooped Buttoned closure $25 CAD
Tote Style Bag with Hooped Buttoned closure $25 CAD

Guaranteed no two alike.

These two samples are simple abstract designs but almost any of my other artwork can be modified in a bag flaps.

A few other items are on the way soon.

These bags at the moment are made to order.

You pick the colors/design and I’ll do it up.

Message me if you’re interested.

Cheers and Stay Creative,

A

Sarah’s Prayer

I’ve been working on this piece for a few months now off and on.

The idea came to me and I instantly knew I had to paint it. This will be the largest canvas (asides from murals) that I’ve done.

It is 2ft high and 4ft long.

It is like a triptych but is painted on one canvas.

The inspiration came from the Biblical story of Sarah & Abraham.

For those of you who might be unfamiliar with the story please see Genesis 17.

The key elements that I wanted to express in this piece are:

the feeling of incompleteness or defectiveness from being barren,

the  longing desire to become pregnant

and

the transformation and growth that occurs when you become pregnant.

All stages that Sarah might have experienced.

Sara's Prayer

The headless-ness  also adds a slightly whimsical quality (as it reminds me of those touristy photo stops where you stick your head through the hole to have your picture taken)

and adds a universal quality to it as every woman who has struggled with getting pregnant can relate to some degree.

As always, I’d love to hear your reflections/opinions on the piece, so please  feel free to comment.
