Curvy #2

As I mentioned in my last post, I’ve started another watercolor & ink series.

This series will consist of a watercolor background and a curvy woman inked in.

What I also neglected to mention

(and you can’t really tell that well  in the photos)

is that the watercolor background also has traces of either silver or gold acrylic paint to give additional character and depth.

As with my previous series “Life Simplified”, the emphasis is on simplistic beauty.

The dimensions are 11″ x 15″ and as usual painted on cold press 140lb watercolor paper.

Here is #2 in the Curvy series.

Curvy 2

I particularly like this one though I’m not quite sure why.

Perhaps it’s the colours or the submissive yet assertive posture of the woman.

Hope you enjoy.

Cheers,

Amanda

Good Evening,

Tonight’s sketch isn’t anything fancy really.

I was just messing around on my tablet and ended up with some glasses and a wine bottle. (hopefully it’s a good vintage 🙂 )

I spiced it up a bit by giving it a woodblock/print/stamp effect. It’s kinda neat and is good enough for tonight.

So here’s a toast to future days, cheers!

Drive-by

G-Eve,

Just started randomly sketching this evening after work and came up with a new piece that I haven’t named yet.

It reminds me of one of the many nights we’ve spent driving across the great Canadian wilderness.

(Oh and New Brunswick to Alberta is about 50 plus hours non-stop for anyone who was curious.)

I think it may have been inspired by the fact that I’ll be returning home soon (6 weeks to go)

Anyway, all told I think it probably took me 1/2hr to 45 minutes.

Without any further delay I present “Untitled”

Essence

Good Evening,

Just thought I’d share with you my newest piece.

It’s approx. 10” by 10” and was done using my tablet.

Not sure why, but for some reason I wanted to call it “Essence of being”

So here you go.

Just for Fun

This all started with a silly comment to J (my hubby).

So I present an oil painting version of an Asian elephant*!

Oh and for the curious yes the elephant is original to me, I sat here this evening sketching him out.

Enjoy!

Pop Art Eve

I want to start off by saying I love pop art.

Some of my favorite artists were part of the pop art movement. (Lichtenstein being at the top of my list.)

I think it’s the bright colors that pull me in, (in case you haven’t notice I tend to use a lot of color in my work).

That being said, tonight’s piece is another friend tribute.

I loved her new profile picture and had to swipe it.

I’ve been staring at it for probably months now trying to decide how to approach it.

I even did a version in marker (simplified colors like my yelling man) but it just didn’t turn out right.

I didn’t want to loose any of the subtleties of the picture so tonight I decided I’d do a Warhol inspired version of her.

The thing is, I couldn’t decide on which color scheme to go with. I think both suit her personality.

I guess I’ll let you decide which you like better. (Of course Eve gets the final say as to which (if either) is the better one 🙂 )

Here she is,  “Eve” pop art  version 1 & 2
