Otherwise known as the common Raven is one of my favorite birds.
There’s just something about them that fascinates me.
I like the way they hop about with their shiny black feathers and smart beady eyes always sizing you up.
But most of all, I love the sound they make, that shrill caw always brings a smile to my face and a sense of excitement.
Perhaps it’s nostalgia and nothing more.
Today was a long day at work and I didn’t feel like creating anything very complex, colorful or time consuming.
Instead, I went for a simple noise reduced, black and white piece.
I’ve called it: “Quiet snowfall”
Tonight’s sketch isn’t anything fancy really.
I was just messing around on my tablet and ended up with some glasses and a wine bottle. (hopefully it’s a good vintage 🙂 )
I spiced it up a bit by giving it a woodblock/print/stamp effect. It’s kinda neat and is good enough for tonight.
So here’s a toast to future days, cheers!
This is just to say: Yatta!! My blog has had 10,000 visitors. 😛
Here’s a quick sketch to celebrate!
Thanks and keep on checking in
oh and maybe try commenting more…
Just started randomly sketching this evening after work and came up with a new piece that I haven’t named yet.
It reminds me of one of the many nights we’ve spent driving across the great Canadian wilderness.
(Oh and New Brunswick to Alberta is about 50 plus hours non-stop for anyone who was curious.)
I think it may have been inspired by the fact that I’ll be returning home soon (6 weeks to go)
Anyway, all told I think it probably took me 1/2hr to 45 minutes.
Without any further delay I present “Untitled”
Just thought I’d share with you my newest piece.
It’s approx. 10” by 10” and was done using my tablet.
Not sure why, but for some reason I wanted to call it “Essence of being”
So here you go.
This all started with a silly comment to J (my hubby).
So I present an oil painting version of an Asian elephant*!
Oh and for the curious yes the elephant is original to me, I sat here this evening sketching him out.
